Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong recently visited the Home Team officers stationed at Woodlands Checkpoint, where he experienced firsthand the cutting-edge technology transforming border operations. During his visit, he tested the new Automated Passenger In-Car Clearance System (APICS).
APICS is a revolutionary system designed to streamline immigration and security checks with minimal officer intervention. By leveraging the Immigration and Checkpoints Authority’s (ICA) advanced biometric clearance platform, APICS integrates automation, robotics, surveillance, and wireless technologies. This sophisticated system enables eligible car travelers to complete immigration self-clearance efficiently, enhancing both security and traveler convenience.
Prime Minister Lee’s visit highlights the importance of continuous innovation in strengthening Singapore’s border security while ensuring smooth and efficient processes for travelers. APICS represents a significant step forward in the nation’s efforts to adopt technology for a safer and smarter future.
